Microsoft Teams live Speech-to-Speech Translation – available in early 2025!
In November 2024, Microsoft announced the upcoming availability of real-time speech-to-speech translation in Microsoft Teams meetings, set to launch in early 2025. The Microsoft AI Interpreter agent enables this new meeting capability and allows meeting participants to speak and listen in the language of their choice and their unique voice.
AI Interpreter Agent for Microsoft Teams Key Features:
Real-Time Translation: The Interpreter agent in Teams provides real-time speech-to-speech interpretation during meetings.
Voice Simulation: Users can opt to have the interpreter simulate their voice for a more personal and engaging experience.
Language Support: The feature will initially support nine languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish.
Availability: This new AI agent is estimated to be available in public preview in early 2025 and may require a Microsoft 365 Copilot license to access it.
This new multilingual AI functionality will help global teams overcome language barriers in team meetings while improving communication and understanding.
